What jobs hire at 15

How much time may 14- and 15-year-olds work?

Depending on where you reside, you may be subject to rules and restrictions regarding the sort of employment you may do and the amount of hours you can work each week. For example, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) in the United States imposes the following limitations on 14- and 15-year-olds:

You are not permitted to work in any hazardous occupation, such as mine, logging, or any profession that needs working with explosives or power saws, ladder work, warehousing, or other comparable tasks.

On a school day, you may work up to three hours and on a non-school day, up to eight hours.

In a school week, you may work up to 18 hours overall.

You are only permitted to work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (except from June 1 through Labor Day when you can work from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.).

However, there are restrictions to the amount of hours you are allowed to work in some instances, such as if you are participating in a state-sponsored work-study program.
