How to Apply for Jobseeker's Allowance

University Credit and Jobseeker's Allowance

Universal Credit is a new benefit payment that will progressively replace working-age means-tested benefits such as Income Support. You may now only make a fresh claim for (contributory) new type JSA and cannot generally make a new claim for income-based JSA — you must instead apply for Universal Credit.

Where can I get help with my benefits?

It might be beneficial to chat with someone about the benefits to which you may be eligible and how they may affect your other benefits. A local independent guidance agency, such as; may assist you in navigating the procedure.
