Getting a career in retail may be a terrific opportunity to get your foot in the door and learn new skills. Part-time jobs for students are often available. However, not everyone is made out for this kind of profession. Shift hours may be irregular, and retail employees are often asked to remain on their feet all day. Here are some alternatives to retail occupations that could be more enticing.

The examples shown here vary greatly in terms of compensation and long-term possibilities, but they are all entry-level employment that do not need a college degree. Some jobs may demand a high school graduation as well as prior work experience.

Teller at a bank.

Tellers help clients with financial transactions and are in charge of cash management.

Childcare provider.
