To keep workers and customers safe, the department will adhere to the most recent government and Public Health England (PHE) recommendations.
The Prime Minister said on November 23, 2020, that the government would revert to a reinforced Local Restriction Tiers system of COVID-19 measures in England from Thursday, December 3, 2020, to preserve the NHS and save lives.
This means that beginning on December 3, 2020, the following amended jobcentre advice will apply to customers in England, ensuring necessary help is delivered while keeping colleagues and customers safe.
Tier 1 (Medium) and Tier 2 (High) local restrictions:
Work Coaches will be enabled to support clients using the best and most suitable channels, whether online, by phone, or in person, with jobcentres staying accessible to assist people who need further assistance and are unable to communicate with us over the phone or digitally.
All jobcentres will stay open, with social distance maintained and regular desk and common space cleaning in accordance with current COVID-19 advice.
Face-to-face exams for disability benefits are still on hold.
If you believe you are eligible to a health and disability benefit, please contact us as soon as possible to file a claim.
Existing clients' payments will be processed as usual. Anyone whose requirements have changed should call us immediately so that we can ensure they are getting the appropriate amount of help.
Tier 3 (Very High) and Tier 4 local restrictions (Stay at Home)
All face-to-face evaluations will be halted, with the exception of vulnerable consumers, who will still be able to visit employment centres for immediate assistance.

We also announced on 3 November 2020 that the suspension of the Minimum Income Floor - for self-employed clients claiming Universal Credit in England, Scotland, and Wales - has been extended until the end of April 2021. This implies that self-employed Universal Credit users will get a payment that matches their earnings during this challenging period.
