This includes everyone who is responsible for keeping the lights on, the water flowing, the roads fixed, and the snow plowed. Whatever warmth we have this Christmas season is mostly owing to them.

Farmers/ranchers/fishers, and so forth.

Anyone who plants, catches, raises, or otherwise contributes to America's food supply. That hamburger or tofu sandwich didn't just appear on your plate. It took a lot of effort from workers who risked lightning, heatstroke, and bears to complete it. Thanks.

Also, this applies to the saddle crowd at Tavaputs Ranch.

Teachers. Everyone, but particularly K-12 instructors.

Despite the e-brains that most children bring to school today, they help to make America an educated country. None of our accomplishments would have been possible if we hadn't been taught to read.

Executive assistants/secretaries

I don't care how brilliant, successful, powerful, or whatever you are; if you didn't have someone on your side, you'd fail miserably. No firm, organization, or business could survive if no one knew what the heck was going on within.

Journalism.

In general, this refers to anybody who brings the world to our notice, as well as those who keep us reasonably informed. We may be secure, healthy, well-fed, and comfortable while yet being clueless about what is going on.
