DAY-TO-DAY DUTIES

DAY-TO-DAY ENVIRONMENT

Someone who is afraid of being attacked may benefit from you providing them with a personal attack alarm or making arrangements for a police community support officer to pay them a visit if you provide them with practical help. You can also be responsible for instructing and monitoring the work of volunteers.

It is possible that you may be required to work certain nights and weekends, and a good portion of your time will be spent traveling between different locations or customers.

A number of the clients won't have spoken their emotions in the past, and as a result, they can be experiencing discomfort, bewilderment, guilt, or rage. You will either go to the customers' homes or provide help for them over the phone.


OPPORTUNITIES FOR A CAREER

After gaining sufficient experience, you may be promoted to the position of senior victim care officer, unit manager, or area manager, in which case you would be responsible for a number of facilities, employees, and volunteers. You might potentially proceed into the field of witness care, which would include a stronger emphasis on the legal and judicial system as well as ensuring that witnesses appear in court.
