Training officer

Within an organization, the responsibility for training personnel falls on the shoulders of training officers or managers. In Scotland, entry-level earnings for trained training officers or managers typically range from £20,000 to £25,000 per year. This may go to more than or close to $45,000 per year with sufficient expertise.


Conditions

You would have an office to call home, but you would probably spend a significant amount of time in classrooms or other training facilities.

It's possible that in order to organize classes or teach them, you'll need to go to other places. This may require staying away from home for many nights.

Getting In

Getting a job as a training officer right after graduating from high school, college, or university is not very common. The majority of new entrants start out by gaining relevant credentials and experience in the industry in which they want to later instruct others.

Starting out in the human resources or training department as a clerical or administrative assistant and working your way up the corporate ladder to become a training officer or manager is certainly doable.

In most cases, candidates must have completed certain courses, one of which must be English, and received a passing grade in either National 4 or 5 or Higher.

It is common practice for organizations to require candidates to have at least one of the following credentials: HNC (SCQF Level 7), HND (SCQF Level 8) or degree (SCQF Levels 9-10).

It doesn't matter what topic you study for your HNC, HND, or degree; nevertheless, human resource management, education, business studies, or psychology are highly applicable fields.

The typical admission criteria for an HNC or HND are one to two Highers, while the requirements for a degree are four to five Highers. There are several courses that will require for credentials that are higher than the minimal.

Getting On

Becoming a member of the CIPD may be beneficial to the development of your professional life.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) offers three tiers of professional membership: Associate, Chartered, and Chartered Fellow. Acquiring academic credentials, in addition to the necessary experience and abilities, is necessary for making progress.

You also have the option of advancing your career and becoming a manager or training officer in a bigger firm or organization.

If you work for a bigger company, you have a better chance of being promoted to the position of senior training officer or training manager.
