Joiner for retail store fixtures


Description

A Shopfitting Joiner may expect to be requested to work on a variety of projects, including the fit-out of retail stores, banks, restaurants, pubs, and offices, among other types of establishments.


The following is a list of the primary responsibilities of a Shopfitting Joiner:


Helping with the preparation for the renovation by, for example, removing the present furniture and appliances

Putting in place various fittings and fixtures

Putting in shelves, doors, and cabinets, as well as door surrounds and skirting boards (2nd fix)

Putting in place the ironmongery.


Hours

Depending on the nature of the job, a Shopfitting Joiner may put in anywhere from ten to twelve hours of labor each day and as many as seven days per week.


Standard Charge Per Hour

The rate of pay for a Shopfitting Joiner is between £11 and £14 per hour on average.


Essential Proficiencies and Abilities

Either you will need to have completed all of the necessary training or you will need to have relevant job experience.

NVQs in both carpentry and joinery are available.

The training of an apprentice

Time served

The City and Guilds qualification was met.


You will be required to give references, and you should ideally have previous experience working in a shopfitting setting.

In addition to this, you will be needed to have a current and valid CSCS card. On most sites, you will need to provide a skilled card in order to work there; but, if you have a green card for general operatives, the Contractor may allow you to work there nonetheless.
