How do you sell yourself in an interview with no experience?

Selling oneself is often the most difficult aspect of looking for a job. This may be difficult to do even if you have spent many years working in a certain field. When you don't have much experience, how do you present your abilities to potential employers?

1) Make sure you use the wording from the job description. Invest some time in doing an in-depth analysis of the prospect. Focus your attention on the important terms included in a job description. When reviewing your cover letter and résumé, a human resources department will be searching for those particular keywords in particular.

2) Create experience. I don't mean lying. Never lie. However, you should review your previous experiences and restructure them so that they align on your resume with the criteria of the position you are applying for. If you are a recent college graduate, for instance, you should think about the projects you completed while you were in school that qualify you for some of the responsibilities listed on the job description.

3) Do your homework on the company. You should educate yourself as much as you can on both the job and the organization. Navigate the web. Consider the aspects of the firm that you have in common with them as well as the reasons why you would be a good match to work for them.

Be accessible; if necessary, work evenings and weekends to secure that position. Do whatever it takes. First, you need to get a job and gain some experience. After some time, you will have gained the skills and expertise necessary to make demands.

7) Give some thought to the References. Invest some time in careful consideration of the people you will mention as references. Find references who are willing to attest to your capacity to perform the duties of the job. Get your references in order. Ensure that they are familiar with the position you are applying for and that they are able to talk well about you in that capacity.

8) Listen. Be open-minded. Listening is really necessary for you right now since you are just starting out and don't have nearly as much experience.
