The practice placement is a crucial component of the Foundation Degree in Healthcare Play Specialism that students must complete. They may be completed on a set day once a week, in a series of longer blocks, or in a mix of both of these options.
The student is responsible for finding an appropriate placement by doing research on possibilities available in their immediate vicinity or within a reasonable driving distance from their residence. In cases when this is impossible to do, the institution may be able to point students in the direction of suitable placement options.
THE HPS MENTOR
Practice placements have to be supervised by a licensed Health Play Specialist who has worked in the field for a minimum of two years. They will have finished the specialized mentor training that was offered by HPSET, or they will be prepared to start the training.
The mentor maintains consistent contact with the learner and is responsible for facilitating the latter's education in the job. They are in charge of evaluating the student's abilities to do their jobs in the workplace.
