Manicure and polish in the French tradition

There is perhaps no other kind of nail art that is as recognizable than the classic French manicure with white tips. Since the design was first popularized in the 1930s, women all over the world have relied on the timeless French manicure, which has nails that are neutral and simple while still being precisely preened.

Even though they refer to two separate procedures, the words "French manicure" and "French polish" are sometimes used interchangeably. This is despite the fact that the two treatments are distinct from one another.

This may be perplexing, which is why we have produced this guide for you so that you can make an educated choice about which treatment is best appropriate for you on your subsequent visit to the spa.

What exactly is involved in a French manicure?

There isn't really that much of a difference between a French manicure and any other spa manicure. The procedures for giving a massage and caring for one's nails are either the same or quite close (some variation is, of course, to be expected between different therapists and spas).

The painting step, often known as the French polish stage, is what distinguishes French manicures from other types of manicures. In the majority of conventional manicures, each nail is given a single coat of polish (also known as varnish), but in a French manicure, the very tip of each nail is painted white and is painted very precisely.

Can you explain what a French polish is?

Following the application of a base coat to each nail by the therapist or nail technician, a natural pink, beige, or nude lacquer is then applied to the tips of the nails. After the polish has had time to dry, an opaque white varnish or, less often, a nail crayon is used to make a crisp white tip on each nail (at the point where each nail splits from the nailbed).

In order to get a more modest appearance, this procedure is sometimes performed backwards, with the white tip being generated before the colored varnish is placed on top. After the varnish and the tips have been allowed to dry, a final top coat will be put to the nails in order to preserve them and make them last longer.

French polishes may seem to be relatively straightforward, but in reality, they are a very challenging at-home treatment to do. The whole effect of the "high maintenance" style may be completely undone by a single crooked tip, blotch of varnish, or ding.

NOTE: Make sure to verify with our nail technicians or the spa of your choice to establish the specifics of your French manicure or polish at all times.

What's the difference between getting a French manicure and just painting your nails with French polish?

When you make an appointment for a French manicure, you will be treated to some exquisite hand care, such as exfoliation, massage, and/or a treatment that uses paraffin wax to smooth and soften the skin on your hands. Before applying the French polish as mentioned above, the therapist will also take the time to shape the nails, tidy up the cuticles, and address any other issues that may exist with the client's skin or nail health.

Those who schedule a French polish will have their nails coated in the traditional "French" manner, but they will only get minimum further hand or nail pampering beyond the application of the varnish. Due to the fact that French polishes are often less costly than French manicures, they are an excellent option for those who currently own hands and nails that are in excellent shape.

However, this does not mean that those with nails that are less than flawless cannot enjoy the benefits of a French polish. Regardless of the existing condition of your nails, the therapist will make every effort to improve their appearance to the greatest extent feasible.

A French manicure together with French polish is an option for a present that may be bought. Be sure to check out our spa gift certificates page whether you're searching for someone to join you to the spa or want to purchase a present for that special someone in your life.
