Individuals who choose to make their living in the construction or fencing industries have access to a diverse selection of job options. With the completion of this Diploma, a Fencing Operative will be allowed to work toward the following level, which is that of a Fencing Installer.
A Level 2 Diploma in Work-based Fencing is awarded by the Lantra Awards. General Fencing is a Competency Based Qualification (CBQ), which is based on the fencing National Occupational Standards (NOS). These fencing NOS exist to ensure that personnel working within the industry meet the required minimum standards. General Fencing is one of the qualifications that can be earned.

The correct positioning and fastening of fence posts and/or vehicle restraint devices in a safe manner
The secure positioning and fastening of the various components of the fence and/or the vehicle restraint systems.
The laying of foundations or the installation of anchors in preparation for a fence.
The evaluation will include the submission of a portfolio, as well as video and audio evidence, backed by witness testimonies, as well as practical observation and evaluation.

If you are able to demonstrate that you have achieved the appropriate requirements during the assessment, you will be awarded a Lantra certificate. This certificate may be used as proof toward obtaining your FISS or CSCS blue skills card.
