Communication Support Workers (CSWs) are employed at schools, colleges, and universities, and sometimes in other types of educational institutions, to assist deaf students in communicating with their instructors and with other students in their classes. They use a wide range of support tactics and communication assistance approaches in order to tailor the support to the specific requirements and preferences of the clients. They guarantee that the student has a strong knowledge of the tasks and that the student is able to alter the written language as necessary. Our community service workers all have at least an NVQ level 3 – 6 in British Sign Language, and many also hold degrees in Deaf studies or related fields.
The duties of a CSW are adaptable and may shift to meet the need of the person for whom they are providing assistance. This may include the following
Providing assistance to persons in both the comprehension and production of written materials
The process of modifying educational resources so that each student may more easily comprehend the information
Providing suggestions on how the environment may be modified to make things simpler for the individual that they are providing assistance for
