Cinema or Theatre Assistant

Attendants are the individuals who work in the lobby and auditorium of a cinema or theater. They are often referred to by the term "ushers." They are responsible for the sale of tickets and refreshments, the regulation of admission to the theater and auditoriums, escorting patrons to their seats, and the cleaning of the cinema or theater.


The Work Being Done


It's possible that:

responding to questions asked over the phone and accepting reservations in advance while using a computerized map of the theater to locate empty seats

selling tickets prior to the beginning of the show

checking tickets and directing audience members to their seats

While standing and supporting a tray that is strapped to your shoulders, you must sell programs and refreshments within the theater while also managing money.

ensuring that everyone stayed seated during the whole of the show.

maintaining order in the theater during the show by resolving disagreements over seating and addressing anybody who is being disruptive.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) or the National Living Wage (NLW) is often used as a benchmark for determining starting pay (NLW).

Employees aged 18 to 20 get £6.83 per hour as their National Minimum Wage starting April 1, 2022, while workers aged 21 to 22 receive £9.18 per hour as their National Minimum Wage. Workers aged 23 and older are eligible for the National Living Wage of £9.50 per hour. There are some helpers that make around £8.00 per hour.


Conditions

You have the option of working in a small community theater or movie theater, a major city theater, a cinema with several screens, a concert venue, or a huge arena.

The majority of your work would be done in the afternoons, evenings, and on weekends (often lasting until about midnight).

Work on a part-time basis is frequent.

Work may be seasonal in some locations, such as tourist hotspots and campgrounds.

It's possible that you'll be climbing stairs and navigating tiered seating spaces.

You are expected to wear the company uniform, which your employer will often supply for you.


Getting In

Although formal credentials are not required, you should be able to handle cash and provide customers with change.

It is likely that you will require knowledge of information technology in order to book tickets and keep track of sales.

Having prior experience working in customer service is advantageous.

You need to be above the age of 18 to enter the majority of theaters since you will have to be present when films rated over 18 are playing. To be able to offer alcoholic beverages, you must also be above the age of 18.
