1) Tasks
The Child Protection Officer is responsible for managing everything connected to the Child Protection programs.
The scope of the work comprises the development and implementation of an effective case management system, as well as the organization and planning of all actions connected to raising awareness on problems pertaining to protection.
Collaboration with the Program coordinator will be required as part of this work in order to fulfill another component of the job, which is to guarantee that all child protection teams get enough training.
2) Responsibilities
The supervision of the team of social workers
Evaluations of job candidates and employees' performances for social workers
Hold meetings with the social workers on the team to discuss case management.
Make choices about matters pertaining to the safety of children
Participate in hands-on activities out in the field with children, families, communities, and staff members.
Develop your professional contacts and networks in the area of child welfare.
Keep in close communication with the other project partners to advance the cause of child protection training.
Offers both the psychological and the protective services.
Maintain oversight of the interventions.
Create comprehensible formats for the data collecting and processing.
Include members of the community in the procedures for the protection of children who are particularly in need of assistance.
Ensure that every member of staff abides by the principles outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child at all times, paying particular attention to the protection of children's privacy and the implementation of a child-centered approach that prioritizes the "child's best interests" as the guiding principle.

3) Required competencies
A degree from an accredited college or university, particularly at the postgraduate level, in an area relating to psychology, social work, or education.
Experience working in an international development or humanitarian aid program of at least three years' duration, ideally within an emergency setting.
Expertise in the management of humanitarian disasters as well as camp and population coordination.
A familiarity with the workings of both domestic and foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Experience in the field and a thorough comprehension of the psychological and protection concerns that are present in this setting.
Expertise in the administration of teams and the development of staff members' abilities.
Extensive experience in the realm of training.
Experience in the creation of training materials that can be shown.
Previous work experience in contexts including refugees or internally displaced persons (IDPs), complex crises, and/or post-conflict or post-disaster scenarios.
Both English and French may be spoken with ease.
