Biologists investigate living things, such as plants and animals, to get a better understanding of their make-up, behaviors, habitats, and the ways in which they interact with other living things and their surroundings. They engage in research, the gathering of samples and measurements, the carrying out of tests and experiments, as well as the interpretation and reporting of their results.

Biologist Job Description

The biologist will assist with field research by taking measurements, collecting samples, performing tests, and analyzing the results in order to gain a greater understanding of organisms, their composition, and the dietary habits they follow, as well as how they behave, communicate, reproduce, and relate to their environment. You should be knowledgeable in the areas of biology and chemistry, as well as research methods, laboratory procedures, and equipment.

You need to be able to do solid research if you want to be successful as a biologist. You should be able to work well with others, have extensive knowledge, be analytical, attentive, and detail-oriented, and have strong communication skills.
