Air accident investigator jobs

Air accident investigator

Within the United Kingdom, its overseas territories, and its crown dependencies, the Air Accidents Investigation Branch is responsible for investigating significant accidents and incidents involving civil aircraft.

Additionally, we provide our support as well as our knowledge and experience to international air accident investigations and organizations.

Our mission is to enhance aviation safety by analyzing the circumstances surrounding aviation mishaps and major events, as well as identifying the underlying causes of these occurrences, and then advocating preventative measures against their recurrence.

Who we are in ourselves

It was in 1915 that the Accidents Investigation Branch of the Royal Flying Corps was established, which is where the AAIB had its start. We've just transitioned into our own separate division inside the Department of Transportation.

Concerning issues related to aviation safety, the Chief Inspector of Air Accidents is accountable directly to the Secretary of State for Transport.

There are six different inspection teams, each of which is headed by a senior inspector. There are operations inspectors, engineering inspectors, and flight data recorder inspectors on each of the teams.
