In 2014, the minimum hourly salary for all new federal contracts was increased from $7.25 to $10.10. Many federal government wages are also part of the Federal Wage System, which means workers are required to get raises or "step increases" at least once every three years. Government employment tend to pay more generously than non-government jobs due to these statistics, requirements, and hourly salary increases.
